River Detective Case Histories

Here are case histories of the residents of New Zealand rivers. As you read them, consider the key ecological factors. You might make a list of the key ecological factors and see which ones are especially important in each case.

Pick a creature or situation in your waterway and write a similar case history for it. This will involve you in the basic training needed to become a good River Detective. Before you begin, be sure to do some background searching in the library to find out what's already known about the critter. Check out your knowledge of each of the key ecological factors in the critter's neighbourhood.
